🎯 Quick Wins
Age of Empires III’s Baltic Powers DLC is discounted before it even launches. Pre-orders for the Definitive Edition’s new expansion are live now at 15% off, ahead of the 10 September release. Two new civilisations, Danes and Poles, plus 25-plus new maps and new Regicide and Independence modes are included.
Seafarer: The Ship Sim is leaving Early Access on 24 September. The console debut lands the same day on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so this is the first chance to try the ship-handling sim without a PC. The PC price rises from $24.99 to $29.99 at full launch, so early buyers save a few dollars.
The Sims 4 finally has a fix coming for the marriage bug. Maxis confirmed at a 1 September developer Q&A that married Sims losing their spouse status after a Create-a-Sim visit is getting patched. New free content includes kids’ clothing and the return of the Sims 2’s “Olive Spectre” hairstyle.

🧠 Strategy Spotlight
Manor Lords’ Update 8 rewrites the seasonal economy.
Slavic Magic’s medieval city-builder passed four million copies sold this week, a huge number for a game still in Early Access. The timing lines up with Major Update #8, which overhauls how food and trade work through the year, following on from the building system rework we covered last month.
Cattle can now be bred or imported, apples get pressed into cider, honey becomes mead, and oats join the crop rotation alongside a new cheesemonger building. A new map, Wide Valley, adds a river-based layout to build around, plus interface and construction tweaks throughout.
For existing players, this changes the early-game calculus considerably. Cider and mead sell for more than raw grain, but both need buildings and time to pay off, so choosing between a quick cattle herd and a slower orchard investment is now a real strategic decision.
If you bounced off Manor Lords before because the economy felt thin, this update is the reason to give it another look. Steam currently has it discounted 35% to $39.99 through 10 September, which lines up neatly with enough time to test the new systems before the sale ends.
👀 Worth Watching
Two dates worth putting in the diary. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition’s Baltic Powers DLC releases 10 September, the same day Manor Lords’ current discount ends. Seafarer: The Ship Sim leaves Early Access on 24 September with its console debut, so PS5 and Xbox players get their first shot at it then.
The Sims 4’s next patch is still a moving target. Maxis hasn’t confirmed an exact date, but the pattern points to mid-to-late September, and our simulation games hub has more on what else is landing this month.
💬 Community Corner
Manor Lords’ new farming options set up a genuine early-game trade-off. A dairy-first opening gets you selling cheese sooner, while an orchard-first approach takes longer to pay off but scales into higher-value cider once it’s running.
If you’re rebuilding your village around Update 8, it’s worth trying both before settling into a routine, since each pulls your early workforce in a different direction for the first few in-game years.
⏭️ Next Week’s Prep
Circle 10 September for the Baltic Powers launch and the end of Manor Lords’ discount, then 24 September for Seafarer’s full release. We’ll have the Sims 4 patch notes as soon as Maxis actually ships them.
