🎯 Quick Wins
Car Park Capital opens in early access today. MicroProse is publishing this satirical city builder, where you turn a walkable town into a car-first one. Expect parking lots, anti-car protests and a Lua scripting layer for mods. Steam lists a 10-month early access run, with 1.0 due in summer 2027.
We could not confirm a price, so check the store page before you buy. If you enjoyed last week’s Transport Fever 3 launch, this is the tongue-in-cheek counterpart.
Frosthaven leaves early access on 15 October. Snapshot Games’ digital adaptation of the board game launches on Steam and Epic with all 17 heroes, the full story campaign and up to four-player online co-op. A free “Road to Frosthaven” demo launches alongside it. Pricing was not available in the sources we checked.

Planet Zoo 2 arrives on 13 October for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The headline additions are freshwater and saltwater aquariums and aviaries. Price is unconfirmed, so wait for the store listing, and if park management is your thing, our look at Cities: Skylines II’s Park Adventures covers a similar itch.
🧠 Strategy Spotlight: Shogun 2 gets the Complete Edition treatment
Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition lands on Steam on 13 October at £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.99. It bundles the base game with all its DLC, including Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai, and adds updated lighting, shadows and textures, 1440p and 4K UI scaling and a 64-bit upgrade. Controls have been modernised, and there is Japanese and Chinese voice acting with full text localisation.
The two changes that matter for strategy players are the 50+ newly playable minor factions and integrated mod support through Mod.io. More factions mean more campaign starts with different early-game pressures, which is a strong reason to return if you left Shogun 2 years ago.
Owners of the original get 75% off until 12 November, and buying the new edition also gives you the original game. If you already own it, the discount makes this an easy decision. If you do not, the full price still covers the base game and every expansion.
👀 Worth Watching
Northgard Battlegrounds enters early access on 27 October. Age of Empires IV: Raiders of the North arrives on 29 October as an expansion that grows Crucible Mode. Dawn of War IV is not due until 3 December, with Commander Edition players getting a three-day early unlock from 30 November.
On the platform side, Neon Abyss 2 left early access yesterday, and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches on 15 October for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
💬 Community Corner
Modding keeps turning up in this week’s launches. Shogun 2 now has Mod.io built in, and Car Park Capital ships with Lua scripting from day one. What would you build first?
⏭️ Next Week’s Prep
Shogun 2 Complete Edition and Planet Zoo 2 both arrive on 13 October, so decide now which one gets your time. Frosthaven 1.0, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea all land on 15 October. If your backlog is already heavy, the Frosthaven demo is a low-risk way to test the game first.
