🎯 Quick Wins

Farming Simulator 25 just got a free upgrade. Giants Software shipped the Pumps N’ Hoses Pack this week, adding umbilical irrigation systems, manure separation and configurable biogas plants, plus more than 40 new items. It’s a free download for anyone in our simulation games corner, so there’s no reason not to grab it if you’re running a mid-to-late-game farm.

inZOI’s Vacations update is live. Krafton’s v0.10.0 update, released 3 September, adds a full travel system with new destinations, scuba diving and surfing, alongside expanded basements and better hiring tools for anyone managing an in-game business. If you’re running a large company in-world, check the new hiring presets before your next shift change.

Whiskerwood is 50% off while its biggest update settles in. The cat-and-mouse city-builder’s Nautical Update added shipbuilding, shipyards and naval trade this week, and Steam has the game at $14.99 through 17 September. If you’d been waiting for a reason to jump into this early access city-builder, this is it.

🧠 Strategy Spotlight

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition just had its biggest patch ever. The Baltic Powers DLC launched 10 September at $19.99, adding the Danes and Poles as new playable civilisations, two new modes (Regicide and Independence), and more than 25 maps. It arrived bundled with a free update that every player gets, DLC or not.

That free update is the part worth paying attention to. Wall hit points have been cut from 1,000 to 750 and Arsonist damage is up 50%, while Harpooners have been nerfed, which means the defensive turtle openings that used to carry games into the late stage just got noticeably weaker. Expect faster map control and more aggressive early expansion to take over as the go-to strategy until the wider community settles on a new meta.

Why it matters: Even if you never buy the DLC, your existing games have just changed shape. Anyone leaning on wall-heavy defence should be testing faster expansion builds this week rather than assuming last month’s strategy still holds (browse more of our strategy game coverage for other titles feeling the shift).

👀 Worth Watching

Endless Legend 2 leaves early access on 17 September, bringing a new playable faction called the Sandshapers, two rogue factions, a minor faction and a console launch alongside the full 1.0 build. If you’ve been holding off, next week is the moment to jump in with the complete game rather than a work-in-progress build.

Civilization VII’s roadmap got a lot more concrete this week. Firaxis announced Arc of Tomorrow, a free update pushing the timeline into an Atomic Age with new nuclear-strategy mechanics, alongside Earthrise, the game’s first paid expansion built around the space race. Neither has a firm date yet beyond “2027,” but it’s worth knowing before deciding whether to buy in now or wait for the expanded late game (our Civilization VII hub has every guide we’ve written on the game so far).

💬 Community Corner

Endless Legend 2 players are gearing up for next week’s full launch, trading early build ideas for the incoming Sandshapers faction on the game’s Steam forums ahead of the 17 September release. It’s the kind of pre-launch chatter worth skimming if you want a head start on faction strategy before the servers get busy.

⏭️ Next Week’s Prep

Endless Legend 2 hits 1.0 on 17 September, so expect our next roundup to cover first impressions of the Sandshapers faction. We’ll also be watching for more detail on Civilization VII’s Earthrise expansion as Firaxis promises to share new civs and leaders “in the coming months.” See you next week for another Strategy Session.
